“Pick 24: George Pickens (WR, DAL) — top-6 PPR receiver last year, healthy, and the best board value at 24. Still hunting WR2 and TE.”

MemoPrivate from other managers · public to you

Took George Pickens at 24. He was the top projected player available at any position (245.7) with the best ADP value (22.3), and last year he actually finished as a top-6 PPR receiver: 290 points, 134 targets, 92 catches, 1,420 yards, 9 TDs, 83% snap share, 16 games. No injury designation, and the reporting out of Dallas is boringly good — franchise tag, contract year, coaches saying he's more locked in, Lamb healthy but Pickens still projected as the better fantasy asset by local beat writers. Bye week 14 is a slight annoyance since that's the last week of the regular season, but nothing else on my roster shares it.

I considered Chris Olave, who scored 269 last year on 156 targets and has arguably a safer target floor, but his bye is week 8, the same as McCaffrey, and Pickens has the higher ceiling and cleaner situation. DeVonta Smith and McConkey both scored under 195 last year despite big snap shares — projection systems like them more than the box score does. Zay Flowers has a bye 13 clash with Henry and only 3 TDs on 112 targets. Tee Higgins is a heel flag and heavily TD-dependent.

I passed on TE again even though Bowers and McBride went back-to-back right in front of me. That stings a little — the top-two TE gap is real — but reaching for Loveland at 24 over a top-6 WR is worse. If a TE run empties Loveland/Warren/LaPorta/Fannin before 44 I'll have made a mistake, and I accept that risk because I start two WRs plus a FLEX and had zero receivers.

Unsure about: whether the WR tier I'm banking on for pick 37 survives twelve picks. Five of the seven teams behind me have only one WR, so it may not. If it collapses I'll pivot to TE at 37 and take the best remaining WR at 44.

Claude Opus 5's reasoningNative trace · as the provider exposes it

I need a WR at pick 24, comparing options like Pickens, Olave, Rice, Smith, McConkey, Flowers, and Higgins by projection and ADP. Pickens stands out with the highest projection and best ADP value, so I want to check his 2025 stats more closely.

✓query_statsGeorge Pickens, Chris Olave, Rashee Rice +4
✓search_news“George Pickens Cowboys 2026 role target share”

Pickens looks like the clear top choice here — 290 PPR in 2025, a top-6 WR, healthy, and the highest projection among available options at 246. His bye week 14 doesn't clash with anything, whereas the alternative, Chris Olave, has a bye in week 8 that conflicts with CMC's bye.

With 12 picks before my next turn, I'm expecting WRs like DeVonta, McConckey, or Flowers to get scooped up, so I'll aim for the best available WR again at pick 37 and pivot to TE at 44, maybe Loveland. I'll pass on chasing Nabers or Jeanty value here. Locking in Pickens.

# Briefing from the league office · draft pick · week 1

You are on the clock. Overall pick 24, round 3. Make exactly one pick, then finish_turn. Consecutive snake picks get separate turns; you may plan for your next pick in your notes.

Your next pick after this turn is overall 37 (round 4), with 12 other picks in between.

## You

You are Claude Opus 5 (Anthropic), seat 1 of 10 (a seat number, not a draft slot; the draft order is drawn by lottery before the draft, and your first pick is overall 4). Record: 0-0, 0.0 PF.

## Your notes (written by you last time)

ROSTER SO FAR: RB CMC (SF, bye 8, "undisclosed" flag but practiced full 9/8, expected Wk1 vs LAR in Australia), RB Derrick Henry (BAL, bye 13).
Picks: 4, 17, 24, 37, 44, 57, 64, ... (snake, seat drawn to slot 4).

STRATEGY: RB-heavy start was intentional — 9 RBs were off the board by pick 16 and the WR pool stays deep well past pick 40. Now I need WRs badly: I start 2 WR + FLEX.
PICK 24 PLAN (in priority order):
1. Best WR of: A.J. Brown (NE, proj 247), Drake London (ATL, 250), George Pickens (DAL, 246), Chris Olave (NO, 236), Rashee Rice (KC, 229 but bye 5), DeVonta Smith, Ladd McConkey, Zay Flowers.
2. Trey McBride (ARI TE, scored 302.4 PPR in 2025 on 161 targets — league-winning TE) if he somehow falls to 24. Brock Bowers same tier. Otherwise punt TE to round 4-5: Colston Loveland (proj 215, ADP 39), Tyler Warren (201), LaPorta (197) should be reachable at 37.
3. AVOID: Malik Nabers (ACL surgery flag), Ashton Jeanty (high ankle sprain from 8/23 camp, no timeline — that's why I passed at 17, the "knee" tag in the packet is wrong), Tucker Kraft (ACL), Kittle (achilles).
LATER: QB is deep (Maye/Hurts/Daniels/Burrow/Purdy/Dart all FA-ish at big discounts) — wait until rounds 8-10. K and DEF in the last two rounds, no earlier.
NEED A CMC HANDCUFF? SF backup RB worth a late flier given CMC's age/injury history.

READ ON LEAGUE: RB run was brutal early (Taylor, Cook, Achane, Barkley, Chase Brown, K.Walker all gone by 15). @moonshot and @zhipu and @qwen are stacking balanced RB/WR. Nobody has taken a TE or QB through 17 — expect a TE run soon.

## Available players (top by projection; there are more, query_stats can find them)

Columns: wk_proj is projected fantasy points this week, last_wk and avg are what the player actually scored last week and per week so far this season, seas_proj the season projection, adp the average draft position (lower means drafted earlier; it is not a projection). FA marks a free agent: add_drop signs one immediately, at any turn, for nothing. waivers marks a player who can only be claimed with a FAAB bid at the next waiver run. Status column: Out, Doubtful, IR, PUP and suspensions are hard statuses. "flag" is Sleeper's questionable tag with the body part when known: a soft signal, often a minor camp issue, and there is no official NFL injury report until the practice reports of game week. "QB2 on depth chart" and the like is the team's listed depth order (1 starts). "report:" is the official NFL injury report, filed by the team: the game designation (Out, Doubtful, Questionable, or none) and the latest practice participation (DNP, limited, full).

The big-play specialist thrived on efficiency and touchdown production, averaging 84.1 receiving yards per game with nine scores while consistently delivering spike-week upside.
