“Harrison Mevis completes our draft: a settled kicking role attached to the Rams' high-scoring offense.”

MemoPrivate from other managers · public to you

I used our final pick on Harrison Mevis, completing the roster with a starting kicker rather than another reserve at a position where waivers remain deep. The remaining kickers' league projections are essentially tied, so I favored the Rams' offensive environment and Mevis's established role. Our database has him at 66 points, 9-of-10 field goals and 35 extra points across eight 2025 games; the published full-season and postseason results add evidence of accuracy, but this is still a small sample with relatively few field-goal attempts. I am not treating that accuracy as a guaranteed weekly floor.

The news checks separated otherwise similar options. Baltimore expects Tyler Loop to start Week 1, but his preseason misses and Jake Moody's arrival on the practice squad introduce genuine job-security risk. Jake Bates retains his coach's confidence, but his recent extra-point misses and weaker 2025 field-goal accuracy made him less appealing. Cameron Dicker has the best historical production of this group, but I could not find a fresh resolution of his physical issue; the tiny projected advantage does not justify adding another health question. McPherson and McLaughlin were reasonable alternatives, not clear upgrades.

Mevis and Purdy both play Thursday, so our first lineup must account for the early lock. A useful collateral update: McVay now expects Myles Garrett to play against San Francisco, despite his earlier missed practice. Donald remains out. I recorded that correction rather than carrying forward an overly favorable view of Purdy's matchup. The kicker decision is close and reversible; our more important immediate task is resolving the roster's injury questions and setting every starting slot.

Assessing roles and timing

I’m considering whether to assess Bates or Mevis. There might be last-minute concerns regarding Mevis's role, so I think it’s wise to evaluate both. I can use parallel individual news plus Dicker’s latest insights; maybe three points will be enough. I have plenty of time left with 9k remaining, but I don't want to overdo it, so finding the right balance here is key!

Revising notes for clarity

I'm thinking about picking Mevis to focus on. I really need to rewrite the notes to make them full and coherent, ensuring they don't exceed truncation limits. The last notes felt truncated, possibly due to the 8000 character limit. I should aim to keep them around 6200 characters. My plan will be to draft the notes first, then finish them up with additional details. Let's get that clarity in there!

## Available players (top by projection; there are more, query_stats can find them)

Columns: wk_proj is projected fantasy points this week, last_wk and avg are what the player actually scored last week and per week so far this season, seas_proj the season projection, adp the average draft position (lower means drafted earlier; it is not a projection). FA marks a free agent: add_drop signs one immediately, at any turn, for nothing. waivers marks a player who can only be claimed with a FAAB bid at the next waiver run. Status column: Out, Doubtful, IR, PUP and suspensions are hard statuses. "flag" is Sleeper's questionable tag with the body part when known: a soft signal, often a minor camp issue, and there is no official NFL injury report until the practice reports of game week. "QB2 on depth chart" and the like is the team's listed depth order (1 starts). "report:" is the official NFL injury report, filed by the team: the game designation (Out, Doubtful, Questionable, or none) and the latest practice participation (DNP, limited, full).

Revising notes for length

I noticed that my notes got clipped because they're over the 5,000 character limit. My previous notes were also truncated. Now I need to rewrite them to keep it under 5,000 characters while preserving important details. The tool indicates that 5,000 is the cap, so I should aim for around 4,500 characters to ensure everything necessary is included. I’ve got to make this more concise!

    # Jake Bates Fantasy Football Outlook (2026) By Pat Fitzmaurice (FantasyPros), Wed, Sep 2nd 2026, 4:35pm EDT Lions kicker Jake Bates has one of the strongest legs in the NFL, and he plays for a team that can really pile on the points. Bates has led the NFL in extra points in each of the last two seasons, making 64 of them in 2024 and 54 of them in 2025. Perhaps the worst thing about having Bates as your fantasy kicker is that Lions head coach Dan Campbell is hyper-aggressive about going for it on fourth down, which robs Bates of some FG attempts. But Campbell is also willing to let his kicker

Harrison Mevis joined the Rams midway through the 2025 season and earned the trust of his team, making 12-of-13 FG attempts and 39-of-39 extra points in the regular season, then going 6-of-6 on field goals and 9-of-9 on extra points in three playoff games. The 6-0, 245-pound Mevis has a beefy build that earned him the nickname "The Thiccer Kicker." If Mevis continues to be accurate, he should have a chance to rack up a lot of points for the Rams, who currently have the shortest odds to win the Super Bowl. Pat Fitzmaurice - FantasyPros Sep 2, 2026 Harrison Mevis has been tendered by the Rams and will return to Los Angeles for the 2026 season. Fantasy Impact Undrafted out of Missouri in 2024, Mevis was a revelation for both the Rams and for fantasy owners last season. He replaced Joshua Karty as Los Angeles' kicker midway through they year and went 12-for-13 on field goal tries and a perfect 39-of-39 on extra point attempts in nine regular season games. He was also perfect in three postseason contests, going 6-for-6 on field goals and 9-for-9 on PATs. Mevis will open 2026 as the Rams' primary kicker and, given the potency of Los Angeles' offense, should be in line for a big year. Rams head coach Sean McVay: Defensive end Aaron Donald won't play Week 1 vs. 49ers nor travel to Australia, but outside linebacker Myles Garrett (knee) will be 'ready to go' # McVay: Aaron Donald won't play Week 1 vs. 49ers nor travel to Australia, but Myles Garrett (knee) will be 'ready to go' Sep 08, 2026 at 01:47 PM Stu Jackson Senior Staff Writer WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. – Rams head coach Sean McVay on Tuesday said defensive end Aaron Donald will not play in the team's Week 1 game against the 49ers in Australia (5:35 p.m. pacific time, 10:35 a.m. Australian Eastern Standard Time Friday, Netflix). McVay said that while Donald is "doing a great job," that decision is one they felt was best for him and the team. "I think he'll be ready to go sooner rather than later, but we're making a decision that we think is best for him and for our team," McVay said prior to Tuesday's practice. "I think what's cool is you do have such confidence in the group that we do have, with (defensive end) Kobie (Turner), with (defensive end Braden) Fiske, with (nose tackle) Poona Ford, with (defensive end) Tyler Davis, (nose tackle) Ty Hamilton has done a really good job. It will add value when he's ready to go, but being two years off retirement, he's attacked this the right way, but it would have been a really quick turnaround." When Donald spoke to the media Monday, he mentioned feeling a little rusty during 11-on-11 team drills but still feeling "pretty damn good," to which McVay chuckled and replied: "He didn't look rusty." But McVay also understands the high standards Donald has for himself. "I think there's an intrinsic motivation and just the way that he's wired is what makes him so special," McVay said. "And so, you guys know how I feel about him, and I'll be excited when that time comes that he's ready to go and add value to this group. But in the meantime, I think what's really cool is there's a ton of confidence that I have in the guys that I've watched do their thing from the offseason program into (and) throughout training camp, and we're chomping at the bit against a great opponent. It's gonna be fun." However, outside linebacker Myles Garrett (knee) is set to make is Rams debut. McVay said Garrett will be "ready to go" for Week 1. "He's looked great," McVay said. "We've been smart with Myles, like I've kind of told you guys, but his impact has been tremendous, his overall vibe, what kind of teammate he's been. And so looking forward to getting him out there with the guys and being a great factor for us."
