“Pick 118: Kyle Monangai—meaningful existing work and lead-back upside for our final running-back spot.”

MemoPrivate from other managers · public to you

I drafted Kyle Monangai as our fifth running back. His value is not just that I roster Swift: he earned meaningful work last season, including red-zone carries, and demonstrated a lead-back ceiling. The database shows 769 rushing yards on 163 carries through Week 17; FantasyPros' late-season usage analysis reports almost identical red-zone carry totals for Monangai and Swift. That gives him a plausible path to useful standalone weeks and a larger role if Swift misses time.

The knee remains a risk. Patrick Finley's report confirms a return to Monday's brief practice, not unrestricted participation or clearance for Sunday. I can accommodate a slow start with four other backs. Brooks offers comparable projected production but remains on the side field after two ACL injuries; I prefer Monangai's demonstrated NFL role and improving availability. White's receiving ability fits PPR, but Washington's three-back distribution leaves his ceiling less clear. Jacobs' commissioner-exempt status makes his old ADP a poor guide to current value.

The sequencing mattered: only four picks separate this selection from 123, and several appealing receivers remain, whereas the running-back pool drops off more sharply. I passed on Johnston, Lemon and Doubs for now rather than assume Monangai would survive. An extra quarterback or tight end would be a weaker use of this bench spot in a ten-team league. Owning Swift, Monangai and Burden concentrates our Chicago exposure and Week 10 bye, but this is a developmental/contingent bench selection, not a plan to start both Bears backs every week.

Weighing draft decisions

I’m considering the decision between Monangai projected at 155, and comparing that to White at 128 and Brooks at 155. There seems to be a significant drop in RB after the second pick, while WRs are more closely matched in terms of value. So, it might be time to make a decision and focus on the draft rather than getting overwhelmed with endless research. I need to act soon!

## Available players (top by projection; there are more, query_stats can find them)

Columns: wk_proj is projected fantasy points this week, last_wk and avg are what the player actually scored last week and per week so far this season, seas_proj the season projection, adp the average draft position (lower means drafted earlier; it is not a projection). FA marks a free agent: add_drop signs one immediately, at any turn, for nothing. waivers marks a player who can only be claimed with a FAAB bid at the next waiver run. Status column: Out, Doubtful, IR, PUP and suspensions are hard statuses. "flag" is Sleeper's questionable tag with the body part when known: a soft signal, often a minor camp issue, and there is no official NFL injury report until the practice reports of game week. "QB2 on depth chart" and the like is the team's listed depth order (1 starts). "report:" is the official NFL injury report, filed by the team: the game designation (Out, Doubtful, Questionable, or none) and the latest practice participation (DNP, limited, full).

Condensing notes for clarity

I'm realizing that the limit is 5000 characters, which is why my previous notes were truncated at around 6000. This means I need to maintain the most essential information while rewriting a portion of those notes to fit within the limit. I'm currently at 6800 characters, so I'll aim to condense down to about 4400. My priority is to ensure that key health information remains intact without losing anything significant. I'll start by lining up all important health details and condensing as needed.

    • si.com2026-09-08Commanders Have a Week 1 RB Question the Depth Chart Can't Answer
The Washington Commanders will enter Week 1 with three running backs on the active roster as the team kept Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Rachaad White, and Kaytron Allen on the initial 53. Croskey-Merritt will begin the season as the clear lead back in the room after gaining 805 rushing yards on 175 carries and eight touchdowns in just seven starts in 2025. The question centers around the philosophy Washington has talked about all offseason: situational roles, not a one-back offense. In that scenario, when the situation changes from normal down-and-distance to third down or short yardage, does the r

    • rotoballer.com2026-09-06Rachaad White the Subject of Positive Reports During Camp - NFL News | Fantasy Football
Washington Commanders running back Rachaad White drew positive reviews for his performance throughout training camp this summer. A minor hamstring injury sidelined White for the final two preseason games, but even though he didn't touch the ball in a game, he still flashed upside as a ball-carrier and receiver during camp. White is gearing up for his first season in Washington after four years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was the RB4 in PPR leagues in 2023 before falling to RB22 and RB32 over the last two years, respectively. White's exact fantasy outlook depends on how the Commanders dis

Washington Commanders running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt (lower body) was seen getting some work in Tuesday, with John Keim of ESPN posting video of him going through drills. Croskey-Merritt did not appear in any of Washington's three preseason games and is still working his way back from the injury, so this is a step in the right direction rather than a full practice return. The second-year back ran for 805 yards and eight touchdowns on 175 carries as a rookie and currently sits atop Washington's depth chart. Huh/AP Photos - SHARE - COPY LINK Share Breaking down the Bears’ Monday practice: ### Monangai back, Odunze still out Running back Kyle Monangai returned to practice after missing three weeks because of a knee injury suffered when he got tangled with defensive tackle Grady Jarrett during an unpadded drill. He worked during the Bears’ brief 40-minute practice at Halas Hall. Running back D’Andre Swift, who left practice Thursday with a cramp, practiced. So did every player except receiver Rome Odunze, who left practice Thursday after appearing to injure the same right foot that hampered him last year. A source said last week that preliminary indications were that the injury wasn’t considered serious. Odunze — who described monitoring his foot injury as his “new normal”— hadn’t missed a significant training-camp snap until Thursday. The Bears don’t have to submit an injury report until Wednesday. ### Game week It didn’t rookie hit Dillon Thieneman until he got the weekend off — he was about to play in his first NFL game. The first-round safety had spent most of training camp trying to get through practice — and then the three-game preseason schedule. “[Sunday] night I was watching film, prepping for the game,” he said. “It’s kind of like, ‘Geez, I’m really where I wanted to be being that little kid.’” ### What’s next The Bears will practice Tuesday at Halas Hall as they continue preparations for the season opener against the Panthers. - SHARE - COPY LINK Share #### Patrick Finley Chicago Sun-TimesChicago Bears reporter Next Up In Chicago Bears Bears QB Caleb Williams ready to get to work after summer of 'Madden,' PCA and Ye Bears coach Ben Johnson plays security guard in Mannings' video Bears WR Rome Odunze 'day-to-day' with injury; Ben Johnson 'hopeful' he'll play in season opener vs. Panthers Bears name 5 captains for 2026 season Bears have had plenty of elite players — just not at quarterback The Bears won the Panthers trade — and now need to win because of it

Finishing a year with two carries for 17 yards is about as unseen as it gets for a running back and for that reason there was plenty of doubt outside Halas Hall and even inside about Johnson's ability to make the team this season. With the opener against Carolina just over a week away, Johnson could have a real role in the offense, and after he led the Bears in preseason rushing with 128 yards Ben Johnson's staff is far more confident he can get the job done than even as recently as the end of July. Commanders Have a Week 1 RB Question the Depth Chart Can't Answer # Commanders Have a Week 1 RB Question the Depth Chart Can't Answer The Washington Commanders know Jacory Croskey-Merritt sits atop the running back room, but Week 1 should reveal how David Blough plans to divide the carries, passing-down work and short-yardage snaps. Philip Hughes| Dec 25, 2025; Landover, Maryland, USA; Washington Commanders running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt (22) carries the ball for a touchdown, defended by Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Quinnen Williams (92) in the third quarter at Northwest Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Geoff Burke-Imagn Images | IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect In this story: The Washington Commanders will enter Week 1 with three running backs on the active roster as the team kept Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Rachaad White, and Kaytron Allen on the initial 53. Croskey-Merritt will begin the season as the clear lead back in the room after gaining 805 rushing yards on 175 carries and eight touchdowns in just seven starts in 2025. The question centers around the philosophy Washington has talked about all offseason: situational roles, not a one-back offense. In that scenario, when the situation changes from normal down-and-distance to third down or short yardage, does the running back change with it? Dan Quinn has specifically spent much of the offseason program and camp challenging Croskey-Merritt, pushing him toward becoming an every-down back, with receiving and pass protection as the areas that needed growth. His ability to run with the ball has not been in question after his rookie season, and after adding a few pounds of muscle this offseason, he looks ready to expand his role as a blocker as well. Offensive coordinator David Blough has praised his improvement in catching the football, but what matters come Sunday is whether he remains in the game next to Jayden Daniels when the team reaches an obvious passing down. If he does, that will tell you everything about his role and whether it has grown beyond simply being the Commanders' best runner. > Jacory Croskey-Merritt 175 carries, 805 yards, 8 TDs as a rookie. That’s the SAME Jacory Croskey-Merritt who: (1) led Washington in rushing last year, (2) is developing as a pass catcher, (3) has a legitimate opportunity to take the largest role in this backfield. Year 2 isn’t… > > — Ray Long (@TheExtraYardFF) August 27, 2026 The player who makes this conversation interesting is Rachaad White, who was not brought in simply to take backup carries when Croskey-Merritt needs a rest. White's strength is in his ability to catch the ball coming out of the backfield and accelerate upfield. While Quinn has mentioned White helping "on some third downs," that type of talk directly overlaps with the part of Croskey-Merritt's game Washington has spent much of the offseason developing. This is where the details matter: if White replaces Croskey-Merritt on third downs, Washington has a lead runner and a passing-down back. If Croskey-Merritt stays out there, his offseason development has changed the rotation. In comparison, Kaytron Allen's role is much easier to define and sort. Washington wanted a physical runner capable of grinding out short yardage. You can see clues to Allen's role by watching what happens when the team hits third-and-one or gets near the goal line. If Washington puts Allen in the game, then you'll know Washington has carved out a meaningful role for a third running back even though he sits behind Croskey-Merritt and White in the hierarchy. With preseason over, Blough now has nothing more to hide as he needs everything at his disposal to win. That means White could see most of the passing work, Allen could get the short-yardage carries, and Croskey-Merritt could lead in carries without necessarily owning third downs. Blough could also attempt to make a bell cow out of one of them, although that seems unlikely at this point. Week 1 will give us the first real evidence of Blough's plan to divide the backfield roles. > "It was hard to tackle me last year, but I wanted it to be harder." 😤@JacoryMerritt15 spent the offseason focused on coming back stronger, faster, and harder to bring down. After hitting the weight room, he's ready to absorb contact and churn out dirty yards in Year 2.
