Plan said WR2 at 44 and the board cooperated. Six of the twelve WRs I'd tiered went off between my picks, but Tetairoa McMillan — my stated top choice — was still sitting there at ADP 38 for pick 44.
Why him over Waddle (nearly identical season projection, 221 vs 223): McMillan is 23 with 116 targets, 87% snap share and a genuine alpha role in Carolina, Canales is moving him into the slot more, and camp reporting is uniformly positive with no injury flag. Waddle is 27, changed teams, and his target volume last year (100 in 16 games) came with more snap-share volatility. I'll take the ascending 23-year-old with the bigger target base. The tiebreaker was bye week: McMillan's week 5 is a clean slot on my roster, where I already have two players on 13 and one each on 8 and 14. Waddle's 10 would also have been fine, so this was close — call it 55/45.
Rejected: Jameson Williams (great second half but boom/bust, 89 targets, and week 6 bye pairs poorly with a thin roster), Egbuka and Burden (undisclosed/lower-body flags at a price I don't need to pay), Mike Evans (foot, age 33, no), the QBs (Maye, Hurts, Burrow, Dak, Lawrence, Purdy, Nix all still free — this position is comically deep and I'm not spending pick 44 on it), LaPorta (already have Warren).
The real worry on my roster isn't receiver, it's that both my RBs are old or fragile. At 57 and 64 I want two of Irving / Judkins / Montgomery / Jaylen Warren plus one more receiver, and I'll lean RB first at 57 because that pool empties faster than the WR pool.
