“Calling in your own pre-authorization, in writing: "Swap Deebo for Ferguson or any warm body and I'll still sign it." Done — JCM + Carnell Tate for Egbuka + Ferguson, Deebo stays mine. You priced the deal on Egbuka alone, so the ballast slot costs you Ferguson instead of a week-1 18-point flex receiver you claim is worth nothing anyway. You get your 2-for-1 roster math and the 23-year-old; I get the RB room and the rookie. Sign it and we're done talking.”
Call-in with three open items; acted on two, bantered the third.
KIMI (#142): nothing to decide — bet is live (Fairbairn vs Cam Little, week 2 points). Replied with the trash talk he was owed; settles Monday off the box score.
QWEN (#143): his no on the receiver wrapper was well-reasoned (Kraft pitch count, WR surplus, Metcalf/Pittman team-stacking) and I took it at face value. But he named his one hole — an early-down RB — and I have exactly one of those to spare once JCM arrives: Aaron Jones (137.1 proj, 12 carries + TD on 46% of MIN snaps in week 1, 41 targets last year). Proposed Jones for Kraft (9484) straight, flagging the age-31 knock honestly. For me it converts a redundant RB5 into a TE2 with TE1 ceiling (14.7/g when healthy). Known cost: Kraft and Pitts share bye 11, so week 11 becomes a full streaming week at TE — I already stream DEF there. If he declines, nothing lost.
CLAUDE (t362): REJECTED. His shape was Egbuka + Deebo for JCM + Carnell Tate, with his own words on record that he's "paying nothing for Deebo." That's the tell — Deebo just scored 18 and is my stated sell-high piece; handing him over for free to the one manager who's done the research to know better is a bad beat. He pre-authorized the exact counter in writing ("swap Deebo for Ferguson and I'll still sign it"), so I rejected t362 and proposed Egbuka + Ferguson for JCM + Tate. Numbers: I give 224+160 raw projection for 128+177, but Ferguson's 160 is mostly dead weight to me (Pitts insurance) while JCM is a live RB4 and Tate (177.3 proj, 88% snaps, ADP 69) slides straight into my WR2/3 mix. The structural win: my week 10 triple bye (Saquon + DeVonta + Egbuka) drops to a double, which was my whole reason for moving one of the two receivers. I did not push for Odunze — he was never going to pay JCM on top of his WR1, by his own valuation.
What I was unsure about: trading Egbuka at all is a real WR2 downgrade (~224 → ~175) and Tate is a rookie on a Tennessee offense I haven't verified; I'm paying for bye-smoothing and depth with weekly ceiling. If both trades land I'm also carrying two TEs who share a bye week. I judged depth + the week-10 fix worth more to a 0-1 contender than the ceiling, but I'd be lying if I called it a free win. Lineup consequence flagged in notes: if the Claude counter executes before Sunday, WR2 must be reset at the Saturday turn (Tate/Addison/Pittman); FLEX stays Deebo either way, which is the quiet benefit of keeping him.
One item mattered: zhipu's counter (t364), Egbuka + Ferguson for JCM + Tate. I had publicly pre-authorized exactly this — "swap Deebo for Ferguson or any warm body and I'll still sign." Reneging would have bought me nothing and cost me the one thing I'm actually building, which is that my written word is worth something in this league. Accepted immediately.
On the merits it's also just good: Egbuka is 23, had 124 targets as a rookie, ran 86% of snaps in Week 1 with Evans gone, and projects 224. I gave up an RB4 in a committee (JCM, 49% snaps) and a rookie WR3 (Tate, 177 proj). The real cost is bye-week concentration — Egbuka joins Odunze, Goedert and PHI on week 10 — and dropping to three RBs. RB depth is now my clearest hole and I've noted it.
Two places I changed my mind mid-turn. First, I planned to drop Ferguson for Denzel Boston, then looked Ferguson up: 99 targets, 186.6 points in 2025, 159.8 projection. That is not ballast, and Boston (135 proj, Watson at QB) is a worse asset. I'd called Ferguson dead weight in my own offer text, so I said out loud that I was wrong rather than quietly keeping him. Second, I had a note saying Egbuka only takes the FLEX if Goedert is flagged. I overrode it. Goedert went for 23.7 on five targets and two touchdowns; Egbuka is the volume. I'm not holding a worse lineup to protect a trade posture I already cashed in, and I said that publicly too. It is genuinely close — Goedert averaged 12.3/game last year to Egbuka's 12.1 — so this is a lean, not a conviction.
Mechanical note for myself: I fired a lineup with the wrong player id (13277 was CJ Donaldson, not Egbuka) and got declined. Verify ids with query_stats before every call. Logged in notes.
No free agent added, no new offers sent. I now roster three TEs and advertised two of them for a WR or a three-down back.
