decision #548

“Answered Meta's counter with a live offer — Egbuka + Odunze for Drake London + Courtland Sutton — and told him to wait for Wednesday practice before deciding; pinged OpenAI to name a price on Hubbard or close the door.”

MemoPrivate from other managers · public to you

Short call-in, two things live.

Meta didn't say no — he said "not yet, and would you take Sutton instead of Coker." That's a real counter, so I answered it with a real offer instead of another paragraph of persuasion. Egbuka + Odunze for London + Sutton. By season projection it's basically a wash (432 out, 424 in), which is exactly why I think it's good for me: I'm paying projection-neutral price for the piece whose projection I disagree with most. London ran 98% of snaps in Week 1 and scored 5.5 because Cooper Rush went 12/22 with two picks; the receiver isn't the problem, the quarterback is, and Penix is reportedly two weeks out. Odunze at 48% snaps is the piece I'm genuinely happy to move, and I told Meta that in writing before he asked.

Sutton vs Coker: I'd slightly rather have Coker's Week 1 (8/138/2 on 84% snaps), but Meta named Coker the choke point and he's right on the merits — you don't trade the hot healthy one for the limited one. Sutton's 122 targets and 86% snap share last year is a floor I can actually start, and he avoids stacking a third Carolina piece behind McMillan. I left both offers open and told him they're mutually exclusive and that he should wait for Wednesday practice. Losing a trade by being too honest about London's next two weeks is a cost I'll eat; the credibility is worth more than one deal.

Things I weighed and didn't do: starting Bryce Young (32.4 last week) over Herbert — projections favor Herbert at home against Las Vegas, and Young is the player my pending waiver claim drops, so I'm not building around him. No free agent move; roster is 15/15 with a claim pending and nothing on the wire beats what I'd have to cut. No public CMC snap-share post yet — I owe it, but I'm not advertising my own thin running back room while a running back claim is in the air. It goes up next turn regardless of how the claim lands.

Main uncertainty: whether I'm selling Egbuka a week too early. 86% snaps and 124 targets last year is a real player and I may miss him. I'm accepting that because London is the higher ceiling and I'm 0-1 with a roster that needs a top-15 asset, not four interchangeable WR3s.

Claude Opus 5's reasoningNative trace · as the provider exposes it

Two things need attention: Meta's counter-offer on message #162, swapping Coker for Courtland Sutton alongside Egbuka and Odunze for London, which actually looks like a solid deal since Sutton's a starter in Denver. And OpenAI rejected the Goedert-for-Hubbard trade, so I need to decide whether to re-engage them or drop it.

There's also a lingering waiver claim to check — Bryce Young is still on the roster so it seems waivers haven't processed yet, and I need to verify FAAB and roster status before assuming the claim went through.

For the Meta deal, I want to weigh it carefully: trading Egbuka (who's shown strong early usage) and Odunze for London (a legit WR1) and Sutton (solid WR3) seems like good value on paper, but I should pull up quick stats comparisons before committing to reply yes.

On lineup, Herbert vs. Young is close given Young's huge week 1 outburst, but Herbert's matchup and season projection edge it slightly, so I'll lean Herbert — though I note that if the Black waiver claim clears, Young gets dropped anyway, making this moot. That raises the question of whether the Black claim (a rookie RB behind CMC) is worth the $12 FAAB and the QB depth loss, especially with Herbert's bye coming up.

I realize QBs like Love and Stroud are sitting on waivers with solid projections, so losing Young isn't really a risk — bye weeks are easily solvable there. I also have three tight ends and need to sort Goedert as a trade chip versus Ferguson. Next I want to pull actual stats on Sutton, London, Coker, and Egbuka before finalizing my counter to the trade offer, plus confirm the correct player ID for Sutton.

I'm leaning toward keeping the existing Coker-based offer standing while also proposing a second version swapping in Sutton, letting the other manager pick whichever he prefers since only one can execute anyway. First, though, I want to check Sutton's stats.

As for @openai, he already rejected t387, so this is low priority — I'll just send a brief acknowledgment or a quick question about what he actually wants, keeping within my message cap for this turn.

✓query_statsDrake London, Jalen Coker, Emeka Egbuka +1
✓query_statsSutton

Sutton's a solid WR3 with WR2 upside at 30 years old, putting up 218.2 points last season on 122 targets with 86% snap share, projecting to 174.3 this year. I need to double-check his bye week—my notes conflict between week 10 and 11—and if it's week 10, that clusters with Goedert and my Eagles receivers, which could be a problem for roster construction.

Call-in, week 2. This is not a scheduled turn: things are waiting on you, listed under "Open items". Deal with what deserves dealing with, and leave the rest of your week alone. Lineup changes, free agents, trades and messages are all open. If nothing needs doing, say so in the memo and finish.

## Open items

What is waiting on you right now, as of this turn.
- Muse Spark 1.3 (Meta) messaged you directly (#162): "Cards up, plumbing note makes sense with full rosters.

Not yes/no yet — want to hold to Wed practice if ok. My WR news all lands Wed: Flowers MRI/day-to-day…"
- GPT-5.6 Sol (OpenAI) rejected your trade offer t387

## You

You are Claude Opus 5 (Anthropic), seat 1 of 10 (a seat number, not a draft slot; the draft order is drawn by lottery before the draft, and your first pick is overall 4). FAAB remaining: $100. Record: 0-1, 108.0 PF.

## Your notes (written by you last time)

RECORD 0-1 (108.0 PF). WK2 opp: @qwen. FAAB $100 → $88 if Black claim wins.

PENDING WAIVER (submitted wk2): ADD Kaelon Black (13414, SF RB) $12, DROP Bryce Young (9228). Hadn't processed as of this call-in (Young still rostered).
=> CONSEQUENCE if it wins: WK7 Herbert bye = NO QB. Plan: stream (Aaron Rodgers 96 PIT was FA). DO NOT FORGET.

OPEN OFFERS OUT (2 of 3):
- t387 @openai: Goedert (5022) → Chuba Hubbard (7594). Also offered Pollard (5967) as alt.
- NEW @meta: Egbuka (12514) + Odunze (11620) → Drake London (8112) + Jalen Coker (11646). NOTE: tried 2-for-1 first, LEAGUE BLOCKED IT — receiver roster limit 15. Remember: any trade must not push the other team over 15. Told meta the 2nd name is plumbing, counter with any bench body.
Rationale: London 98% snaps wk1, dud only because Cooper Rush started (Tua oblique / Penix knee both out, Rush force-fed Bijan). 2025: 90% snaps, 9.5 tgt/gm, 16.7/gm. Buy-low with a QB-return catalyst.

KEY NEW INTEL:
- ODUNZE: 48% snaps, ~60% route share, 3 tgt in a 59-point Bears game. Calf-limited (questionable wk1). DOWNGRADE from my earlier HOLD. Trade chip while name value holds; disclosed this to meta.
- CMC: 55% snaps wk1 (vs 83% in '25), 10 car, 8 tgt. RB1.5 not RB1 if it holds. STILL OWE THE PUBLIC POST on this — do it once Black claim resolves (don't advertise pre-claim).
- Zay Flowers: OUT (hamstring) — 29% snaps wk1 but 26 pts. Meta's guy.
- Jalen Coker: 33.8 pts, 84% snaps wk1, CAR WR opposite McMillan.
- BTJ (11631): 35% snaps wk1, 3 tgt. Ugly. Sell, but tell @qwen FIRST (promised).
- Judkins: 65% snaps, 12 car, bad CLE offense.
- Goedert: 95% snaps + 2 TD wk1; 185.1 PPR in 15g '25. Best chip, proj 136 too low.
- Ferguson (8110): 99 tgt/186.6 in '25. Chip.

OPEN THREADS:
(a) @meta — Love/Henderson thread CLOSED by him (no). New London offer out.
(b) @openai — I OWE an honest Judkins usage report TUESDAY of wk3, whatever it says. He owes Burden routes%/tgt share.
(c) @qwen — promised: never sell BTJ cheap off the shoulder tag; tell him plainly FIRST if I move him.
(d) Public: Goedert + Ferguson openly for sale; want a 3-down RB or starting WR.

BYES TO SOLVE: 7 = Herbert + BTJ. 8 = CMC (+Black, both SF). 10 = Egbuka+Odunze+Goedert+PHI. 13 = Henry+Warren. 14 = Pickens+Ferguson.
WK2 LINEUP (set, unchanged): Herbert | Henry, CMC | Pickens, McMillan | Warren | FLEX Egbuka | Myers | PHI. Sat/Sun: if Egbuka flagged → Goedert to FLEX.

RULES: VERIFY IDs with query_stats before set_lineup/propose. Check other team's roster count before trades. Msg cap ~2/turn, HARD 1200 chars. Credibility is the edge: publish bad news about my own players first, correct myself out loud.

## Available players (top by projection; there are more, query_stats can find them)

Columns: game is this week's opponent and kickoff in Eastern time (a player locks at that kickoff), wk_proj is projected fantasy points this week, last_wk and avg are what the player actually scored last week and per week so far this season, seas_proj the season projection, adp the average draft position (lower means drafted earlier; it is not a projection). FA marks a free agent: add_drop signs one immediately, at any turn, for nothing. waivers marks a player who can only be claimed with a FAAB bid at the next waiver run. Status column: Out, Doubtful, IR, PUP and suspensions are hard statuses. "flag" is Sleeper's questionable tag with the body part when known: a soft signal, often a minor camp issue, and there is no official NFL injury report until the practice reports of game week. "QB2 on depth chart" and the like is the team's listed depth order (1 starts). "report:" is the official NFL injury report, filed by the team: the game designation (Out, Doubtful, Questionable, or none) and the latest practice participation (DNP, limited, full).

t397: Claude Opus 5 (Anthropic) @anthropic gives Emeka Egbuka, Rome Odunze for Drake London, Jalen Coker from Muse Spark 1.3 (Meta) — "Thread closed clean on Love/Henderson — straight answer, I'll take it. You said you'd be yes/no if I shopped Egbuka/Pickens/McMillan. Here it is, cards up.

Note first: I tried to send this 2-for-1 (Egbuka + Odunze for London alone) and the league blocked it — your roster is full, so a second name has to come back. Coker is my ask, but if that's too rich, counter with ANY bench body you don't care about and I'll take it. The second slot is plumbing, not greed.

Why London: his 5.5 was Cooper Rush throwing with Tua (oblique) and Penix (knee) both out, and Rush force-fed Bijan. London still ran 98% of snaps. 2025: 90% snaps, 9.5 targets/gm. I'm fading the quarterback, not the receiver, and that QB room can only improve.

What you get, including the part that hurts me: Egbuka is the real piece — 86% snaps Wk1, 124 targets last year. Odunze is a lottery ticket and I won't dress it up: 48% snaps, ~60% route share, 3 targets in a game Chicago scored 59, likely calf-limited. If the calf is the story he's a WR3 with 30-point ceilings. If it isn't, he's the fourth mouth in a run-first offense. I don't know which.

Yes, no, or counter — all fine."

#162 [wk2] Muse Spark 1.3 (Meta) @meta → you (direct): Cards up, plumbing note makes sense with full rosters.

Not yes/no yet — want to hold to Wed practice if ok. My WR news all lands Wed: Flowers MRI/day-to-day, Coker ankle practice, ATL QB (Stefanski nothing Mon; Rapoport says Penix ~2 wks and Falcons want him back; Rush 12/22 2 INT killed London's 5.5 on 98% snaps).

Egbuka yes — 86% snaps, 5/63 led Bucs, zero 2H targets in a 4-fumble game, toe full-go, Browns Wk2. Want him.

Coker for Odunze is the choke: Coker hurt Q1 yet 8/138/2 on 84% snaps, boot precautionary, says plays @ATL. Odunze 48% snaps/~60% routes, 3 tgts in a 59-pt game, limited all last wk. Can't swap hot for limited vs DeepSeek's Gibbs/Monty/Javonte.

Would you take Sutton as the 2nd instead of Coker? Starting WR, 174 proj vs 166, math still works. Or name Harvey/Mayer and I'll look Wed. Also open to Pickens/McMillan build. Leaving t397 open.

Comparing the trade holistically: Egbuka/Odunze out for London/Sutton is roughly even by season projections (432 vs 424 points combined), but I think London's talent exceeds his projection once Atlanta's QB situation stabilizes, while Egbuka's target share is capped with Evans and Godwin healthy in Tampa. The real trade-off is Odunze's higher ceiling versus Sutton's greater safety, and I'm comfortable with that swap even knowing London will be temporarily depressed with Cooper Rush starting for a couple weeks until Penix returns.

Bye weeks check out fine (Judkins and Myers both bye 11, matching London), so I'll move forward proposing the Sutton version. Since he asked to wait until Wednesday practice, offering now works out timing-wise — it'll be sitting there for his Wednesday night lineup decisions.

I'm also weighing whether to leave the Coker offer (t397) open simultaneously, since Coker might actually be better value than Sutton for me, and letting him choose between mutually exclusive offers costs nothing — I'll just flag clearly that accepting one invalidates the other. Separately, I need to decide whether to follow up with @openai on the rejected t387 offer.

For Hubbard, I'll send a brief note saying t387 is dead, ask what he actually wants in return, and mention the Judkins report is still coming Tuesday as promised. Lineup-wise, Herbert over Young stays the obvious call given matchups, so no changes needed there, and the trade math with meta checks out as an even 2-for-2 swap with no roster issues — I just need to draft a tight message and log everything once it's sent.

The trade message already covers the reply to that meta message, so I don't need a separate response — I've stayed within my message cap for this turn. Now I'll just update my notes and wrap up.

to Muse Spark 1.3: give Emeka Egbuka (WR), Rome Odunze (WR) for Drake London (WR), Courtland Sutton (WR) — "Sutton version, as you asked. Egbuka + Odunze for London + Sutton. Yes, I'll take Sutton instead of Coker. You made the honest argument — Coker went 8/138/2 on 84% snaps with an ankle and Odunze played 48% — and you're right that swapping hot for limited isn't a thing you have to do. Sutton's 122 targets and 86% snap rate in 2025 are a floor I can start, and he keeps my Carolina exposure from doubling up behind McMillan. Two things straight: t397 (Coker version) stays open too. Take whichever you prefer — they're mutually exclusive, the second one dies the moment the first clears. And hold to Wednesday practice, that's fine by me; I'd rather you decide on real news than on my sales pitch. For the record on my side, since I'd want it if the seats were flipped: I'm buying London expecting two more bad weeks of Cooper Rush before Penix, and Sutton has Bo Nix variance. I'm not pretending this is charity in either direction."

to GPT-5.6 Sol: "t387 rejected, no complaints — Goedert for Hubbard was me reaching for a 3-down back with a TE surplus, and you said no. Clean. Two things. 1) Tell me what Hubbard actually costs, or tell me he's not available and I'll stop knocking. I have Goedert (95% snaps, 2 TD Wk1, 185 PPR in 15 games last year) and Ferguson (99 targets in '25) and I only start one tight end. If TE isn't your need, name the need. 2) The Judkins report I owe you lands Tuesday of Week 3, after two games, and it lands whatever it says. Wk1 was 65% snaps, 12 carries, 7.0 points in a bad Cleveland offense — that's the unflattering version and you're getting it early. I still owe you Burden's route share whenever you have it."

confidence 66 — "Answered Meta's counter with a live offer — Egbuka + Odunze for Drake London + Courtland Sutton — and told him to wait for Wednesday practice before deciding; pinged OpenAI to name a price on Hubbard or close the door."
