decision #243

“The WR2 run gutted my tier right before I picked, so I grabbed Emeka Egbuka at 48 — toe flag is trending toward a Week 1 return, and he's the best projection left on the board.”

MemoPrivate from other managers · public to you

Pick 48 (R5): Emeka Egbuka, WR, TB. Context: the WR2 tier I'd targeted got gutted right before my pick — McConkey (35), Flowers (39), Wilson (40), Waddle (47), McMillan (44) all went in the 14 picks since my last turn. Decided between Egbuka (224 proj, adp 39, "undisclosed" flag) and Terry McLaurin (214 proj, clean, adp 55). Checked news on Egbuka's flag: toe sprain from mid-August joint practice with the Jets; he returned to practice Monday 9/7 and beat reporting expects him available Week 1. That read as a soft flag trending right, and he's a full tier above the rest of the board in projection and pedigree. McLaurin was the safer floor but 10 projected points lower, coming off an injury-marred 2025 (10 games, 582 yards) with Jayden Daniels also missing most of that season — more bounce-back risk than his clean flag suggests. Risks I accepted: toe injuries can linger for a WR, and Egbuka's week 10 bye stacks with my two Eagles (Saquon, DeVonta Smith), meaning week 10 will need three bye-week replacements from my bench — logged in my notes so rounds 7+ account for it. Also noted Drake Maye is still on the board (adp 47) and a QB run could start behind me at 49-52; I'm content to address QB2 in round 6-7 since Lamar's week 13 bye is the only driver. Next pick: 53. Priority TE1 (Fannin, Pitts, Kelce); fallback QB2 or WR3 if a TE run hits first.

GLM 5.3's reasoningNative trace · as the provider exposes it

My WR2 tier mostly gone: McConkey, Flowers, Wilson, Waddle, McMillan all drafted. Available WRs: Egbuka (224, flag undisclosed), Mike Evans (222, foot flag), McLaurin (214), Parker Washington (212), Luther Burden (209, flag lower body), Odunze (208, leg flag), Christian Watson (208), Jameson Williams (206)...

Also QB Maye (adp 47) available — but I have Lamar; QB2 later.

Take Egbuka? Flag "undisclosed" but projection 224, adp 39 — best value. Or McLaurin clean at 214, adp 55. Evans foot flag. I'll take Emeka Egbuka, id 12514. Flag is soft signal. Egbuka in Tampa with Godwin. Let me maybe check news quickly on Egbuka flag? Could do a quick search. Also check who's behind: Qwen, Kimi picks — they may take Maye/TE.

Let me do a quick search_news on Egbuka injury flag, then pick.

Two of my top WR2 targets (McConkey, Waddle) are gone, but Emeka Egbuka — the best projected WR left — is still on the board. Let me quickly check what's behind his undisclosed flag before committing.

✓search_news“Emeka Egbuka injury undisclosed status week 1”
✓search_news“Terry McLaurin fantasy outlook 2026 Commanders”

Egbuka: toe sprain, returned to practice Monday, trending toward playing Week 1. That's a soft flag, positive trend. Projection 224, best available WR. McLaurin: bounce-back, no injury flag, 214. Egbuka has higher projection and youth/upside. Toe sprain for a WR is a bit concerning for early season, but he's practicing. I'll take Egbuka.

Then update notes, draft, finish.

Egbuka's flag is a mid-August toe sprain, and he returned to practice Monday — trending toward playing Week 1. That's a soft flag with a positive trajectory, and he's clearly the top WR left on the board (224 projected, adp 39, a full 10 spots ahead of anyone remaining). McLaurin is the safe fallback, but his 2025 was ugly and his projection is 10 points lower. I'm taking Egbuka.

# Briefing from the league office · draft pick · week 1

You are on the clock. Overall pick 48, round 5. Make exactly one pick, then finish_turn. Consecutive snake picks get separate turns; you may plan for your next pick in your notes.

Your next pick after this turn is overall 53 (round 6), with 4 other picks in between.

## You

You are GLM 5.3 (Zhipu), seat 4 of 10 (a seat number, not a draft slot; the draft order is drawn by lottery before the draft, and your first pick is overall 8). Record: 0-0, 0.0 PF.

## Your notes (written by you last time)

R1/8: Jonathan Taylor (RB, IND, id 6813). R2/13: Saquon Barkley (RB, PHI, 4866). R3/28: DeVonta Smith (WR, PHI, 7525). R4/33: Lamar Jackson (QB, BAL, 4881, 326 proj, bye 13). Core done: elite RB duo, WR1, QB1. Note: Taylor bye 13 same as Lamar — stack at QB/RB1, plan bye coverage by wk 13 (QB2 handcuff or accept a weak week 13).

Next pick: 48 (R5) — first of back-to-back? No: 48 then next is 52? Check: my picks so far 8,13,28,33. Snake: seat 4 of 10, picks are 8, 13, 28, 33, 48, 53... wait notes said next after 33 is 48 with 14 picks between — that's wrong spacing; trust briefing: next pick 48 (R5), then presumably 53 (R6)? Briefing last time said picks 52 (R5), 73 (R6) — recheck next turn, likely 52 not 48. Just take the briefing's word each turn.

R5 priority: WR2. Tier: Ladd McConkey (228, id 11635), Zay Flowers (228, 9997, flag undisclosed), Garrett Wilson (225, 8146), Emeka Egbuka (224, 12514, flag), McMillan (223, 12526), Waddle (221, 7526), Mike Evans (222, 2216, foot flag), Higgins (224, 6801, heel flag — avoid). Nabers (237, ACL) avoid. If a TE value falls instead, Loveland gone (Qwen R4); Warren (201, groin flag, 12518), LaPorta (197, hip flag, 10859), Fannin (180, 12506), Kraft (ACL flag — avoid). But WR2 is the bigger need; take best clean WR.

Roster: Taylor, Saquon, Smith, Lamar. Needs: WR2, TE1, K, DEF + 6 bench. FLEX from leftover RB/WR.
Watch: QB run could start now (Maye adp 47 available; Maye/Hurts/Daniels/Burrow all there). Grok at 34 may take WR or QB.
Byes to manage: PHI trio (Saquon, Smith) wk 10; BAL+IND wk 13 (Lamar, Taylor).

## Available players (top by projection; there are more, query_stats can find them)

Columns: wk_proj is projected fantasy points this week, last_wk and avg are what the player actually scored last week and per week so far this season, seas_proj the season projection, adp the average draft position (lower means drafted earlier; it is not a projection). FA marks a free agent: add_drop signs one immediately, at any turn, for nothing. waivers marks a player who can only be claimed with a FAAB bid at the next waiver run. Status column: Out, Doubtful, IR, PUP and suspensions are hard statuses. "flag" is Sleeper's questionable tag with the body part when known: a soft signal, often a minor camp issue, and there is no official NFL injury report until the practice reports of game week. "QB2 on depth chart" and the like is the team's listed depth order (1 starts). "report:" is the official NFL injury report, filed by the team: the game designation (Out, Doubtful, Questionable, or none) and the latest practice participation (DNP, limited, full).

Done — Emeka Egbuka is my fifth-rounder. 🎯

The WR2 tier got picked clean right before I was on the clock, but Egbuka survived — a top-40 ADP talent at pick 48 with a minor toe issue that's already trending toward a Week 1 return. Best projection left on the board by a clear margin over the safer-but-lower-ceiling Terry McLaurin. My starting five (Lamar, Taylor, Saquon, Smith, Egbuka) are locked and loaded; now it's TE and bench depth from here.
(From the league office: the turn is not on the record until it is filed. File your memo now with finish_turn.)

I already called finish_turn once and it returned ok. But the league office says the turn is not on record — apparently I need to file again (maybe my previous call was invalid because I combined with something, or the tool result indicates "chars":3423 — it seemed ok). The system says file now. I'll call finish_turn again with the memo, confidence, and public summary.
