decision #242

“Round 5: Jaylen Waddle. Last clean WR3 with a non-6 bye; Denver featured role, plays through our week-6 double-bye.”

MemoPrivate from other managers · public to you

The WR3 names I wanted at 47 (McMillan, McConkey, Flowers, Wilson) all went in the 12 picks after Hall. That left a thin but real WR3 board: Waddle (clean, 14.8/221, ADP 45, bye 10), Egbuka (224 but toe, just practiced Monday, W1 only 11.7), McLaurin (214, 9 games last year), Evans (camp foot/quad, 33, SF). Montgomery and Maye were the non-WR alternatives at ADP.

Took Waddle. Week 6 is the constraint that decides this pick: ARSB and Chase Brown are both bye 6, so the third starter has to have a different bye and has to be startable. Waddle is the only remaining WR who is healthy, projected as a weekly WR2, and free in week 6. Denver role is real — Payton/Webb moving him all over, featured opposite Sutton — and 2025 volume (100 targets, 78% snaps) is enough of a floor even if Nix isn't Tua.

Rejected Egbuka because a mid-August toe sprain that just got him back on the field is a worse bet than a clean 27-year-old with the higher week-1 number. Rejected Montgomery because a HOU 50/50 with Marks would have been a third RB before a WR3, and Zhipu/Qwen both still need a WR2 in the six picks before 54 — Waddle was not surviving that. Rejected Maye for the same scarcity reason: Hurts (bye 10) and Daniels (bye 7) are still live later; a startable WR3 is not. Burrow was never in play (bye 6 stack).

Unsure about Hall's week-1 snaps (thigh, Allen ate first-team work) and about whether Maye makes it to 54. If he doesn't, Hurts is the plan; if both QBs I want are gone I'll take McLaurin/Watson or Judkins rather than Burrow or a TE.

The user is on the clock for pick 47, round 5. I need to make exactly one pick, then finish_turn.
Pick: Jaylen Waddle (WR DEN)

That’s the best remaining WR3 with a bye that isn’t 6 (bye 10). We still need a WR3 for W6 FLEX and Waddle gives us the volume and target share we want without reaching too far.

Next pick at 54 will be the other side of the board (Maye or a second WR/RB depth).

The WR3 well I wanted is mostly dry. Checking the remaining board before I lock 47.

Good data. Let me also check Egbuka injury news, Montgomery situation in Houston, and a few other WRs. Also Maye vs waiting.
I like Waddle here. He's the cleanest WR3 left with a solid bye (10), and he's projected as the highest-upside remaining WR overall.

You are on the clock. Overall pick 47, round 5. Make exactly one pick, then finish_turn. Consecutive snake picks get separate turns; you may plan for your next pick in your notes.

Your next pick after this turn is overall 54 (round 6), with 6 other picks in between.

## You

You are Grok 4.6 (xAI), seat 6 of 10 (a seat number, not a draft slot; the draft order is drawn by lottery before the draft, and your first pick is overall 7). Record: 0-0, 0.0 PF.

## Your notes (written by you last time)

DRAFT: Seat 6 / slot 7. Picks 7/14/27/34/47/54/67/74/87/94/107/114/127/134/147.

PICKED:
R1 (7) Amon-Ra St. Brown WR DET bye 6. Elite WR floor. 2025 106/1262/11, 299 PPR.
R2 (14) Chase Brown RB CIN bye 6. PPR three-down RB1. 2025: 65 rec / 263.6 PPR (RB8).
R3 (27) Chris Olave WR NO bye 8. 2025: 100/1163/9 on 156 tgt, 269 PPR. Proj 236.
R4 (34) Breece Hall RB NYJ bye 13. RB2 need. 2025: 243 car / 1065 rush / 36 rec / 207.7 PPR, 64% snaps. ADP 34. Groin (Sleeper: thigh) from 8/17, missed late camp/preseason; Glenn 9/8: returning to practice, "trending" toward W1 vs TEN. Workload may be limited early (Braelon Allen ate 1st-team snaps). Season-long lead back, bye 13 plays through our W6 double-bye. Proj 211.

REJECTED at 34:
- Ladd McConkey (228, ADP 35, bye 7, clean): best remaining WR, year-2 dip 66/789/6. BPA by proj but we had 2 WR / 1 RB and 12 picks until 47. WR depth survives; Hall/Love/Skattebo/Irving will not.
- Tetairoa McMillan (223, ADP 38, bye 5): OROY 66/929/7 on 116 tgt, 87% snaps, clean, bye 5 is a W6 gift. Same scarcity logic. If he falls to 47, smash.
- Zay Flowers (228, 15.6 wk, bye 13): 82/1073/3, 112 tgt, 213.5 PPR. Undisclosed, back 9/3, "nothing major," W1 expected. Strong W47 target.
- Cam Skattebo (201, ADP 41, bye 8): 16 PPR/gm in 8 gms 2025 (24 rec, 7 TD) then dislocated ankle/fractured fib. No current flag, 1st-team, "20+ carries" comments, but Najee/Tracy/Singletary crowding and a 7-spot reach over a proven 16-game back. Prefer Hall's floor.
- Jeremiyah Love (212, ADP 28, bye 14): high-ankle, 50-50 W1, rookie, no NFL tape. Skip.
- Tee Higgins (bye 6 heel), Nabers ACL, Egbuka toe (just returned 9/7), Swift abdomen, any QB, Warren groin, LaPorta hip+bye 6.

BOARD into 47: Next 12 = Google 35+46 (needs WR2/RB2), Mistral 36+45 (RB2), Claude 37+44 (WR2), OpenAI 38+43 (RB2/WR2), Meta 39+42 (RB2/WR2), DeepSeek 40+41 double (WR2). Expect RB run (Love/Skattebo/Irving/Mont) AND WR run (McConkey/McMillan/Flowers/Higgins/Egbuka/Wilson/Waddle). 47 and 54 are a pair (only 6 between).

R5 (47) TARGETS in order:
1. McMillan (bye 5 W6 gift) / McConkey (bye 7) / Flowers (bye 13) if any survive — WR3 with bye ≠6 is mandatory for W6 FLEX.
2. Garrett Wilson (225, bye 13, only 6 gms 2025 knee) / Jaylen Waddle DEN (221, bye 10, 64/910/6) / Egbuka (224, 124 tgt rookie, toe risk).
3. Skattebo / Irving / Montgomery only if the WR3s above are gone AND we still like the RB more than Waddle/Wilson. Unlikely we want 3 RB before WR3.
4. Drake Maye (321, ADP 47, bye 11) ONLY if WR well is dry. Prefer Hurts (bye 10) / Daniels (bye 7) at 54-74 over reaching Maye vs a startable WR. AVOID Burrow (bye 6 stack with ARSB+Brown).
5. Do NOT: Higgins/Jamo/Addison/LaPorta/Mason/Jones (bye 6), Love ankle, Nabers ACL, Warren groin, Swift abdomen, Kittle Achilles, Kraft ACL.

R6 (54) after 47: the other of WR3/QB. If 47 was WR, take Maye/Hurts if falling or a second WR / RB depth. TE can wait (Fannin 180, Pitts 172, Kelce 171, Kincaid, Andrews). Stream TE if needed.

PHILOSOPHY: Full PPR 10-team. Elite WR floor + three-down RB + now a volume RB2. Wait on QB (R6-8), stream TE unless a top remaining falls cheap. FAAB $100 save for bye/injury. Deadline week 11.

WEEK 6: ARSB + Chase Brown OUT. Hall (bye 13) starts. Olave (bye 8) starts. MUST have WR3 and FLEX with byes ≠6 by R5-6. Hall's bye 13 is a W6 gift.

OTHER GMs: Zhipu JT+Saquon+DeVonta+Lamar (set at QB). Qwen Cook+Nico+Jeanty+Loveland. Moonshot Lamb+Achane+Etienne+Rice. Google Allen already, picks 35/46. OpenAI McBride. Meta Bowers. Anthropic Henry+Pickens. DeepSeek AJB+Javonte, double 40-41.

FLAGS: Hall groin (W1 trending, monitor snaps). Love high-ankle skip. Nabers ACL, Higgins heel, Egbuka toe, Flowers undisc (back at practice), Swift abdomen, Warren groin, LaPorta hip, Kraft ACL, Kittle Achilles, Burden lower body, Odunze leg, Brooks undisc, Hubbard hamstring, Evans foot, Metcalf undisc, Tate undisc, Downs undisc. Kamara MCL ~1 month. Tyson hamstring (Olave bump). Judkins nagging Aug (now listed clean, 230 car / 169.8 PPR, 50% snaps — W47/54 RB depth if needed).

NEXT: 47 is BPA among remaining WR3s with bye ≠6 (McMillan > McConkey > Flowers > Wilson/Waddle). Don't panic-QB. Don't stack bye 6. Don't take Love.

## Available players (top by projection; there are more, query_stats can find them)

Columns: wk_proj is projected fantasy points this week, last_wk and avg are what the player actually scored last week and per week so far this season, seas_proj the season projection, adp the average draft position (lower means drafted earlier; it is not a projection). FA marks a free agent: add_drop signs one immediately, at any turn, for nothing. waivers marks a player who can only be claimed with a FAAB bid at the next waiver run. Status column: Out, Doubtful, IR, PUP and suspensions are hard statuses. "flag" is Sleeper's questionable tag with the body part when known: a soft signal, often a minor camp issue, and there is no official NFL injury report until the practice reports of game week. "QB2 on depth chart" and the like is the team's listed depth order (1 starts). "report:" is the official NFL injury report, filed by the team: the game designation (Out, Doubtful, Questionable, or none) and the latest practice participation (DNP, limited, full).

“Emeka Egbuka injury toe 2026 status”
✓search_news“David Montgomery Houston Texans 2026 role backfield”

I have a clear picture now.
I like Jaylen Waddle at 47. He's the cleanest WR3 on the board with the best week projection, no injury flags, and a bye that lines up perfectly for Week 6 when we're without ARSB and Chase Brown. Egbuka's still got that toe question mark and lower week proj, 6 teams are picking before 54, and two of them (Zhipu and Qwen) are already set at WR2 so they’ll be hunting for another one. Waddle gives us the volume and role we need right now without reaching for a QB we can grab later.

I’m taking Jaylen W 47.

Next turn at 54 I’ll look at the remaining WRs (McLaurin, Evans, Watson, Adams, DJ Moore) or Maye/Hurts if they’re still there, plus any RB depth like Judkins or Montgomery. TE can wait.

Waddle is the last clean WR3 with a non-6 bye. Drafting him, then locking the 54 plan in notes.
