“With the board's RB shelf stripped bare, Kimi K3 grabs Travis Etienne at 30 to lock in a clean RB2 — best wide receiver coming right back at 31.”
The RB and elite-TE runs gutted my entire target list between picks 12 and 29 — all five RB2 candidates, both premium TEs, and every top WR2 are gone. With back-to-back picks and nobody between them, I took the scarce position first: Travis Etienne at 30 as my RB2. He's the last clean, true lead back available (249 PPR last year, 60% snaps, receiving floor), ahead of the committee/flagged options (Montgomery, Skattebo, Hall-thigh, Love-ankle). Rejected taking Loveland here because the WR drop from Rice (~229) to what survives at 50 is much larger than the TE drop from Loveland to Warren/Fannin. Plan: Rashee Rice at 31, then reassess TE/FLEX at 50/51.
My notes had RB2 targets: Chase Brown, Henry, Saquon, K. Walker, Hampton — all gone. WR2: Nico Collins, Jefferson, London, AJB, Pickens — all gone. TE Bowers/McBride — both gone.
Now at 30/31. Available top options:
RB: Travis Etienne (208), Breece Hall (211, thigh flag), Jeremiyah Love (212, ankle flag), D'Andre Swift (208, flag), David Montgomery (206), Cam Skattebo (201), Bucky Irving (197).
WR: Rashee Rice (229), Ladd McConkey (228), Zay Flowers (228, undisclosed flag), Garrett Wilson (225), Tee Higgins (224, heel), Tetairoa McMillan (223), Emeka Egbuka (224, flag), Jaylen Waddle (221).
TE: Colston Loveland (215), Tyler Warren (201, groin), Sam LaPorta (197, hip).
Since I have back-to-back picks 30 and 31, I should take one RB and one WR most likely, or WR + TE Loveland (215). Loveland at 215 vs next TE Warren 201 — but I still need RB2 badly. Available RB pool: best healthy Etienne 208, Skattebo 201, Montgomery 206. Flags on Hall, Swift, Love.
Plan: take RB first at 30 (position scarcity), then WR at 31. Best RB: Etienne (208, clean) vs Montgomery (206, clean) vs Hall (211, thigh flag — soft). My notes flagged Hall thigh as avoid. Etienne to NO, adp 43, proj 208. Take Etienne at 30, then best WR at 31 — but I make picks on separate turns; 18 picks will pass between... no wait, 0 picks between 30 and 31 — consecutive turns for me. So I get both. At 31 the WR pool will be unchanged (no picks in between). So order doesn't matter much; take whichever. Take RB first: Etienne.
Actually consider Loveland at 30/31 vs waiting: I could take Etienne + Loveland and get WR3 later? WR depth: plenty of 220s. If I take Etienne + best WR (Rashee Rice 229), TE later Warren/LaPorta/Fannin — drop from Loveland to Warren is 14 pts, but WR drop from Rice (229) to whoever at pick 50 (~195?) is ~34 pts. So RB+WR better than RB+TE. Or WR + Loveland vs Etienne + WR: RB drop Etienne 208 to 50's RB (~Skattebo gone, maybe 160s?) big. So Etienne + Rice.
Rashee Rice vs McConkey vs Garrett Wilson vs McMillan. Rice 229 proj, KC, bye 5. Clean status. Take Etienne first? Actually since no picks between, order irrelevant; take the scarcer position first anyway.
Check Etienne on Saints — fine, projected RB1 there.
Let me draft Etienne at 30.
At 30, take Travis Etienne — clean, best healthy RB left, 249 actual PPR last year, projected lead back in NO. Then at 31, best WR: Rashee Rice (229) vs McConkey (228) vs Garrett Wilson (225) vs McMillan (223). Rice has KC offense, strong per-game production. Take Etienne now, Rice next turn (no picks between).
My RB2 targets from my notes all got wiped out in the run from picks 12–29 — Chase Brown, Henry, Saquon, Walker, Hampton, Jeanty, even Javonte and Kyren. Bowers and McBride are gone too, so the elite-TE pivot is off the table. The RB pool is now thin: best remaining clean options are Etienne (208), Montgomery (206, but only 37% snaps in a committee), Skattebo (201). Breece Hall and Jeremiyah Love carry flags.
Etienne is the clear RB2 play: he put up 249 PPR points last season with a 60% snap share and real receiving work, now projected as the lead in New Orleans. Since picks 30 and 31 are consecutive with nobody in between, I take the scarce position first, then grab the best WR (Rashee Rice, 229 proj, KC) at 31 — the WR tier barely decays between these two picks while the RB cliff is right behind me.
