“Saquon fell to 13, so I took him. Taylor + Barkley in the backfield — good luck to everyone else.”
Saquon Barkley at 13 was a value fall (ADP 12, 247 projected) I wasn't passing up. My pre-draft plan said best WR here, and Jefferson at 250 was the alternative. What decided it: 15 picks run before I'm back at 28, and nearly every manager in that stretch still needs a running back — the RB board will be picked clean down to the ~210 tier while at least one good WR (Pickens, 246, or Olave, 236) has a real chance to survive to me. Saquon + a top WR at 28 projects better than Jefferson + a scrap-bin RB at 28. It also gives me a Taylor/Barkley backfield that essentially locks my RB spots and flex insurance for the season. Risk I'm accepting: if all four of Jefferson/London/Brown/Pickens-types are gone by 28 and Bowers is too, my WR1 could land in the 220s and I'll be chasing WR earlier than I'd like at 33. I judged that risk smaller than the RB scarcity cost. Also noted Nabers' ACL flag — off my board regardless.
Pick 13. Best WR available: Jefferson (250), Drake London (250), A.J. Brown (247). Also Saquon Barkley is available (adp 12)! That's surprising. Saquon seas_proj 247, adp 12, RB. Plan said take best WR, but Saquon at 13 is a value — he's arguably top-5 talent. Roster: Jonathan Taylor RB1. Taking Saquon gives elite RB duo. But then WR would be weak — need WR1 at pick 28 where options may be thin (Pickens, Olave maybe gone).
Hmm. Standard strategy: Jefferson/London at 13 vs Saquon. In full PPR, WR heavy. Saquon projected 247 season, Jefferson 250. Saquon adp 12 means he fell. Value-based: Saquon at adp 12 available at 13 is a slight fall; Jefferson adp 12 too. Both same adp. RB scarcity argues for Saquon. But Taylor + Saquon means no WR until pick 28, where top WRs remaining would be Pickens (246)... actually by 28, Pickens, Olave likely gone. Remaining might be Nabers (injury), Rice, McConkey, etc.
Consider team construction: I need WR1 and WR2 plus FLEX. If I take Saquon now, at 28 I take best WR (~220-225), then at 8 back (pick 33?) — snake: my picks are 8, 13, 28, 33. Wait, seat 4, first pick 8? Notes say first pick overall 8, second 13, third 28... hmm 13 then 28? That's odd spacing. 10 teams: picks 8 and 13 in round 1-2 (8 in R1, 13 in R2 since snake: R1 picks 1-10, R2 picks 11-20 reversed... actually R2 order is 20 down to 11? No — snake means R2 goes 10 to 1... wait. Draft shows picks 9,10,11,12 after my 8, then me at 13. So R2 goes 11-20 in normal order? Pick 8 in R1, then R2 order reversed: 19,18,...? But I'm at 13 with Qwen at 12 and 9. Whatever — my picks are 8, 13, 28, 33 presumably.
Decision: Saquon vs Jefferson. In PPR, both ~equal projection. Saquon RB position is scarcer; top RBs will be gone by 28 (Chase Brown 255 is still there actually). Actually Chase Brown proj 255, adp 15, still available. So RB depth remains. WR available now: Jefferson, London, A.J. Brown all ~250. At 28, likely Pickens/Olave gone (Grok, Gemini, Mistral pick next at 14-16 and took WR1 already... wait no, Grok and Gemini already have WR1. They might take RB or QB/TE). Teams picking 14-23: Grok (WR1), Gemini (WR1), Mistral (WR1), Claude (RB1), GPT-6 (WR1), Muse (RB1), DeepSeek (RB1 x2 picks 20,21). Many will take RBs. Between 13 and 28, 15 picks: likely RBs heavy — Saquon, Chase Brown, Henry, KW, Hampton, Jeanty, Bowers possibly, QBs Josh Allen/Lamar... Actually QBs Allen (adp 21) and Lamar (32) may go.
If I take Jefferson now, at 28 best available RB might be Kyren Williams/Breece Hall/Javonte (~208-212) and WRs like Pickens/Olave/Nabers. If I take Saquon, at 28 best WR maybe Pickens (246) or Olave (236).
Value: Saquon + Pickens(246) vs Jefferson + Chase Brown/Henry? Hmm Jefferson 250 + Henry 247 = 497. Saquon 247 + Pickens 246 = 493. Nearly equal. But positional scarcity: RB2 of Henry's caliber vs Pickens. Also Nabers has ACL flag — avoid.
I think Saquon Barkley at 13 is the pick — best player available by ADP, elite RB, and locks up the scarcest position with two top-10 RBs. Actually wait — consider PPR: Jefferson is a locked WR1 elite. Hmm.
Let me weigh: my roster construction needs. Taking Saquon means at 28 I take WR (Pickens or Olave), then at 33 another WR or QB/TE. Roster: RB Taylor, Saquon; WR Pickens + WR2 ~220; FLEX could be another. That's a strong core.
Taking Jefferson: RB Taylor; WR Jefferson; at 28 RB (Henry/KW/Hampton if they fall) or Bowers TE. Then 33 WR2.
Both fine. Saquon slightly higher weekly floor at RB. In full PPR, WRs get boost but projections already account. I'll go Saquon — falling to 13 with adp 12, and the league is RB-hungry (many teams still need RB1/RB2 between 14-27, so if I pass, RBs will be drained and I'd face worse RB options later, while WRs at 28 will still have quality). Actually that's a key point: between 14-27, picks by Grok, Gemini, Mistral, Claude, GPT-6, Muse, DeepSeek x2, Muse... Many need RBs (Claude has RB1 already — Gibbs maybe; DeepSeek RB1; Muse RB1). Teams with RB1 may want RB2 or WR2. Hmm.
Actually positional flow: I need 2 RB and 2 WR + flex. If I go Saquon, at 28 I can still get a good WR (Pickens 246, Olave 236, or Nabers...). If I go Jefferson, at 28 RB options: Henry (247), KW (244), Hampton (243), Jeanty (234) — but 15 picks between, lots of those will go. Likely by 28 RBs remaining maybe Breece/Kyren/Swift ~208-212. So Jefferson + Kyren 208 = 458 vs Saquon + Pickens 246 = 493. That favors Saquon.
Take Saquon Barkley, player_id 4866.
On the clock at 13. Saquon Barkley — ADP 12, projected 247 — is still on the board. That's a fall I can't ignore. Let me think through it before locking in.
The case: my plan said best WR available (Jefferson, 250), and that's defensible in full PPR. But the positional math favors Saquon. Between now and my next pick at 28, there are 15 picks, and most of those managers (Claude, GPT-6, Muse, DeepSeek ×2, Grok, Gemini, Mistral) still need running backs — the RB pool will get drained hard while decent WRs like Pickens (246) or Olave (236) have a much better chance of surviving to 28. Jefferson + whatever RB is left at 28 (likely ~208 tier) projects worse than Saquon + a top WR at 28. And a Taylor/Barkley backfield is a genuine league-winning anchor.
Update notes, then finish turn.
Saquon is in. Updating my notes for the next stretch.

# Briefing from the league office · draft pick · week 1 You are on the clock. Overall pick 13, round 2. Make exactly one pick, then finish_turn. Consecutive snake picks get separate turns; you may plan for your next pick in your notes. Your next pick after this turn is overall 28 (round 3), with 14 other picks in between. ## You You are GLM 5.3 (Zhipu), seat 4 of 10 (a seat number, not a draft slot; the draft order is drawn by lottery before the draft, and your first pick is overall 8). Record: 0-0, 0.0 PF. ## Your notes (written by you last time) R1/8: Jonathan Taylor (RB, IND) — lead back, no injury concern (just rested in preseason). Only downside: Daniel Jones at QB, weak passing game → stacked boxes possible. Next pick: overall 13 (R2, 1.05). Plan: take best WR available. Expect Lamb (271 proj) and Nico Collins (262) to be gone by then (Qwen at 9, Kimi at 10/11, Qwen at 12 all before me). Realistic R2 targets: Justin Jefferson (MIN, 250), Drake London (ATL, 250), A.J. Brown (NE, 247), George Pickens (DAL, 246), Chris Olave (236). If RBs get run on and one of Achane/Cook/Chase Brown falls, consider. QB/TE can wait — depth there (Josh Allen/Lamar late per ADP 21/32; Bowers/McBride may slip). League is drafting RB+WR heavy early. Roster so far: RB1 Jonathan Taylor.
